Celebrate the Hurricanes’ championship with this 2006 front page
June 20, 2006. Game 7 at the RBC Center, a 3-1 win over Edmonton, and a state best known for basketball and barbecue had its first major league title. Rod Brind'Amour, the captain who could not be outworked, lifted the Stanley Cup with his eyes shut and his mouth wide open, and The News & Observer put that single image under two words the whole Triangle was already shouting: IT'S OURS! This is the front page that marked the day Carolina became a hockey state for good.
This is the original, reproduced full and unaltered, headline through sign-off. The complete front page is here, down to Luke DeCock's column and the line every Caniac still remembers: the Stanley Cup belongs to Mayberry. For the fans who were there from the hole in the ground behind Carter-Finley to the banner in the rafters, it's the keepsake from where it all started. Twenty years on, it's the page that started the tradition.
Choose the format that fits where it's going. Framed art arrives ready to hang with a clean, finished edge. The fine art print is museum-quality paper that keeps the color true. Canvas brings texture and depth that work in a den or game room. Metal gives you a sharp, modern finish with real shine. Whichever you pick, you're hanging the night North Carolina won it all for the first time.
Why you'll love this:
- Exclusive Design: Preserve history with this front page from The News & Observer.
- Multiple Size Options: Choose the perfect size for your space, making it easy to frame and display. Or, order with our ready-to-hang frame, metal print or canvas!
- Museum-Quality Paper: Printed on archival art paper weight for a premium feel.
- Safe Delivery: Your wall art arrives in perfect condition, ready to impress.
- Unique Gift Option: Surprise a loved one with a thoughtful and unique gift they won't find anywhere else.
