Frequently bought together

What shoppers most often add alongside this book, all added to your cart in one step.

A wave crashes into the rocky shore near Cook's Chasm at Cape Perpetua on the central Oregon coast, spraying an onlooker. Strong winter storms often send towering waves over the rocks, part of the cycle of ocean life that feeds tide pools, and carves caves and chasms into the rough volcanic basalt. It's an awe-inspiring sight for tourists, but the strong waves can also knock people down across barnacle-crusted rocks, dragging them into the turbulent ocean. Courtesy Thomas Boyd/The Oregonian

A hiker ascends the Umpqua Dunes on the southern Oregon coast. The area is part of the much larger Oregon Dunes, a 54-mile complex of sand dunes covering roughly 40,000 acres - the largest dune system on the west coast of North America. The sand comes from the nearby Coast Range, once sedimentary rock that was uplifted and carried downstream by rivers. Wind constantly shifts the shape of the dunes, while river currents and ocean tides deposit more sand all the time. Courtesy Terry Richard/The Oregonian
