The Chicago Sun-Times presents a look at four decades of Chicago mayors in the new hardcover book, "The Daley Legacy."

From 1955 when the elder was elected until May of 2011 when the younger left office, the name Daley has come to mean Chicago. Serving as mayor for a combination of more than 40 years, first family patriarch Richard J., then son Richard M. were a reflection of their beloved world class city – for all its grandeur, beauty, toughness, hard times and scandal. From the Machine of the father – “last of the big city bosses” – to the “imperial” style and power of the son, the Chicago Sun-Times draws upon its photo archives and writers past and present to explore the Daley legacy as it draws to a close as we know it.
